I need to remind myself. if i want to be a writer, i need to practice. if i want to be anything, i need to practice.
okay, yes self. I will.
This past week has been pretty hectic- driving to Tulsa on Sunday & then driving back to Norman @ 8am for my classes. I am exhausted. Constantly. I need to know that this feeling of being overworked will go away after college. oh wait- I think I can hear my future self laughing at me. I cannot keep up with the all night studying for tests I don't give a shit about. I talked to my older sister over the weekend about school & grades, and she says, "College really doesn't matter. Sure you need to get a job, but yeah I didn't learn anything there. Real life experiences teach you about stuff. Do as little as you can to get a B average." Sarcasm, right? No, she's serious. And the more I thought about it, the more it made wayyyy too much sense.
Some of the classes I'm in, I don't remember anything. Most of the material is the teacher nagging us to read a textbook because it's going to be on the test. I'll read this over ONCE. Get test questions over it...ONCE. And forget it, forever. Great strategy.
This isn't how every class of mine is though. I tend to learn best when I have an interesting professor who enjoys having an engaging lecture or discussion with the class. And again, yes there are many dry professors who rattle on for an hour and a half, or there are the crazy ones...
My professor dressed up in full zorro garb to explain how the printing press spread the growth of knowledge. Don't even ask me what went on in that lecture.
In conclusion, I am going to take my sister's advice. Okay- no i'm not going to squeak by and zone out in class. I'm going to get those life experiences. The only way to have opinions, beliefs, and feelings towards the world, one must first experience a vast + different universe. Here we go.

i have a test in 1hr. 6 min.
I should be studying.
I'm listening to my instrumental playlist on itunes-- it has only instrumental music, yeah original title. So, this playlist is on shuffleboard and I decided to let the LOST soundtrack play. (Whenever I'm on itunes i tend to skip many songs, but when I hear them on the radio I listen....) After hearing two LOST songs i decide to go to my playlist entitled, "4815162342" only those that watch LOST will understand this post.
So I'm listening to this music, and I just gotta say this is "that soundtrack" for me. I know I listen to a lot of soundtracks, a lot of classical, and just a lot of music in general. But this soundtrack is one that I want to play behind me when something really meaningful and poignant happens in my life. This music puts a storyline in my head, and that for me is one of the best things that music can do. This is my thinking music. I sit there and ponder my life & all the people in it. Most of the time it puts me in a hopeful & untroubled mood. It's good music for a good day, it's great music for a bad day.
Obviously I'm a crazy fan when it comes to epic stories like, LOST, and all of the characters, but one of its best elements is the music. As it should be. You all everybody!
Michael Giacchino, you are up there with Thomas Newman & John Williams.

wasting time in bizzell
Tuesdays & Thursdays I have a 2 hour break in the middle of the day- so I trek on over to the library and try to "catch up" on my textbook reading for class...
Yeah that doesn't happen so I mostly spend time on netflix watching movies or shows.
Recently I have been watching The Cosby Show which, in my opinion, is so fantastic.
Think about it. Bill Cosby is Cliff Huxtable, one of the best TV dads ever. Theo & Cliff's talks are hands down best father-son moments. Denise's style is so ridiculously 80s. Whoever writes Rudy's lines is genius. And Claire Huxtable? Well, there is no greater lady. She is, and will always be, the sassiest & classiest. There is only one flaw- Sandra is so annoying. Her feminist views can be funny when she disagrees with Elvin's 50's homemaker view of women. But on the most part, this character is repetitive and boring. She always has some new scientific statistic to talk about, and this usually dampens the party. I only look forward to Cliff's expression when she is done talking. That is when I laugh.
The reason I love this show the most I guess is because of my sisters, Katie & Ellen. We watch this show & so many others, but my sisters are the only people I know that seem to watch & love this show as much as I do. I can talk to a zillion other people about the Bachelor (I know, shameful, but it's the funniest drama) + Glee (yiiikes... let's all stop obsessing over Rachel Berry). But I only know one show that is exclusively the Pearson sisters'. Thank you Huxtables for making us laugh & rewind x 3, when none of our friends really "get it".

continuous snowflakes & ice
As a result of a boring day inside, this is the beginning of my blog. I'm sure it will be interesting, and if not, well, sometimes life can be uneventful. Maybe wait a couple of posts and something will have happened to me by then.
My major is now professional writing.
wow. Sorry, that's kind of scary for me because at first I was way into education.
My thoughts about becoming a teacher were always encouraging and familiar.
(This quote below is in my sarcastic voice that people who know me have often heard)
"You are going to make ssssuch a good teacher!" is what I have always heard- but then I was sitting down to write my essay for the College of Education all I could come up with was...
"I like babysitting".
Okay, it wasn't that bad of an essay, but honestly it was not the way I thought I was going to write it. I had always thought I had this immense passion for teaching others, when in reality, I have a short temper & usually want others to like exactly what I like, and get frustrated when they don't... not the best qualities of a teacher. Not that I am a horrible person who can't stand people, but once I told my mom (who is a music teacher) that I was changing my major she said, "Yeah... that's probably a better idea". tttthanks for your honesty from the beginning? hahah
In all seriousness though, I want to keep up this blog as a mark of me truly rising to the occasion and documenting my thoughts and ideas while I'm scared out of my mind to embark on a new direction.
Now that I've put myself out there I hope people read this blog.
I swear to the lord above I won't make it long & boring again, these are just things I needed to say.
have a bloody fantastic friday everyone!
